This book isn't just boring, but its characters are woefully flat. The author, in order to stretch out a very tired storyline, created tension by making her main characters be completely black and white. The author has made the lovers repeatedly not communicate in any meaningful way and not understand each other by having them be tortured souls with pasts that have scarred them. Their pasts have made them unable to deal with their present.Yawn. It is wholly unrealistic and creates an uncompelling story. There was no nuance to this book and no nuance to her characters. I stopped reading half way through.
Summer’s Moon is a fantastic romantic story about Drew and Parker. Drew own a flower shop in Sweetland. Parker is part of the huge Cantrell family, and practically the only one left unmarried. After a one-night stand with Drew, she discovers she is pregnant with Parker’s baby. The story that follows is a sweet romance about how these two step all around committing themselves to each other when they both find strong feelings for the other. Parker is a police detective, on leave because of a killing he was involved in that has taken on a mysterious aspect. Drew steers clear of all men after a terrible incident with one guy years ago that left her shaken and disheartened. There are lots of other small town characters, many of who are part of Parker’s large family, but these two are the chief ones. The author has provided an interesting story about two people falling in love who really don’t’ want to be in love and do everything they can to avoid it. I loved the small town feeling conveyed throughout. The development of Drew’s and Parker’s characters was quite well done. Even the other characters were well done, though they played less important, supporting roles in this story. I have not read the other books in this series, but found I could easily follow and understand this, as it makes a good stand-alone read. However, now that I have finished with it, I intend to find the other books in the series and read them. I am hooked on the series and on the author. This is a great book for anyone enjoying a light romantic read. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.
Parker Cantrell is a hardened cop who came home to handle some family business with the death of his beloved grandmother. He never thought he would wind up with an out of control dog or spend one night of unimaginable love and pleasure with Drew Sidney. Parker was glad to be out of Baltimore to escape the life which was beginning to feel like it is rotting underneath his feet but stay in a small town again, is that even conceivable?

Parker grew up with a family as close as they could possibly be and a twin brother who helped him find as much trouble as the day had time for. But now that he is grown he is proving to everyone that you should not make assumptions about his current life based on the past one he lived. There were a lot of women in an out of his life for sure, but now that Drew is about to give him something no one else ever offered, it sure makes the small town look less claustrophobic and proving big city dreams can be achieved anywhere.

Drew has made roots with her flower shop business and never thought for a minute that one amazing night with Parker could have her wanting more and not pushing him away. Her past is so confused with mismatched parents and someone else always telling her what direction to go in, that being independent means everything to her and something she is not going to give up easily. Now Drew and Parker may have something to share not in the moment but for the future if they can both get a handle on the past which never seems to go away. The warmth of his kiss is intoxicating and the protectiveness endearing but can they find common ground on which to build an everlasting love on?

Best line in the book….Every glance Parker catches of her leaves him a little more breathless than the last time he saw her.
